Earlier, the VKontakte social network announced the release of the Clips service for creating videos up to one minute long.
The Ministry of Education is developing a social network for schoolchildren, which is similar to the TikTok social network. This, according to TASS, was stated by the head of the department, Sergei Kravtsov.
“We are making our own TikTok for schoolchildren, we are making our own social network for schoolchildren,” the minister said during a conference with Oksana Shumagina, a teacher from the Nizhny Novgorod region.
The social network is being developed jointly with Mail.ru Group.
Kravtsov spoke with teacher Shumagina after her students told that she dreamed of talking with the minister as part of the “Teacher’s Dream” campaign.
In June 2020, the VKontakte social network, owned by Mail.ru Group, announced the launch of the Clips service for creating videos up to one minute long. It will be possible to enable recording or viewing a video using gestures.
The new service is an endless feed of short vertical videos similar to TikTok. It allows you to process videos in the built-in video editor.
On September 15, YouTube announced the launch of a competitor to TikTok – it will be a short video service YouTube Shorts. The new service, like TikTok, allows you to shoot 15-second videos on which you can overlay music from YouTube. The application will be available for users of Android devices, later it was promised to be launched for owners of devices with the iOS operating system.
During the testing phase, Shorts will only work in India.
TikTok was launched by the Chinese IT company ByteDance in September 2016. At that time, the platform was called Douyin and focused only on Chinese users. In 2017, the company began expanding internationally by launching a “copy” of the Douyin app called TikTok. TikTok now has offices around the world, including in Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Dubai, Mumbai, Singapore, Jakarta, Seoul and Tokyo.
